Used Car Checklist
5 Things to Check Before Buying a Used Car
Used-car shopping gets easier when you follow the same basic process on every vehicle.
1. Vehicle history
Review available history information and ask about prior ownership, reported damage, and service records when available.
2. Mileage
Compare mileage with age, condition, maintenance, and price.
3. Condition
Look closely at the tires, body, interior, glass, lights, electronics, and other items you will use every day.
4. Test drive
Check comfort, visibility, braking, steering, noise, and whether the vehicle fits the way you actually drive.
5. The numbers
Make sure you understand the selling price, trade value if applicable, taxes and fees, financing terms, and any optional products.
